- Remodel chicken coop and run. Improve the safety of ‘the girls’ at night.
Preserve the rest of the yard for growing vegetable, family play and relaxation.
- Build, position and prepare 4 raised garden beds. Significantly increase the family’s supply of fresh, nutricious food. Save money on bought supplies. (Some of the beds may be set up as wicking-beds )
- Prune existing trees and plant new trees and shrubs. The combination of fruit trees and pollinators will give a greater yield of edible produce. The positioning of some of the trees will provide shade from the western sun. Prune clippings will be used for bottom layer of the new grow beds.
- Mulching. Mulch all plants – suppress weeds, retain moisture & heat in the soil.
Program 9:30am ‐ a general safety talk & orientation regarding the site.
Wear: Dress comfortably, according to the weather: closed shoes, hat, gloves and sunscreen.
Bring: shovels, picks, rakes, wheel-barrows, hammers, crowbars, tin / wire cutters secateurs ,loppers, ladders. Power tools – drills, grinder, circular and chain saws, mulcher.
