GOOF stands for Grow Our Own Food. This course teaches you how to apply Permaculture ethics and principles to balconies, backyards and community gardens. It will enable you to design, set up and run your own sustainable home/ community gardens in alignment with nature.
There are 5 sessions which mix theory and activities so you can put the theory into practical action. The sessions are presented by knowledgeable and experienced permaculture teachers who live the ethics and principles of Permaculture in their own homes and communities. You will receive course notes along with the information and activities.
We meet on 5 consecutive Friday Evenings for 2 hours from 1900 – 2100
Session # 1 13 July The Ethics and Principles of Permaculture.
Session # 2 20 July Soil: Needs, components, structure, composting,
Session # 3 27 July Plants: How they thrive, Parts, Uses, Families.
Session # 4 3 Aug Seed Saving (harvest, clean, store, propagate)
Session # 5 10 Aug Year-Round Food: Plans/method/templates for year round productivity.
This sessions ties it all together.
Participants are encouraged and supported to form their own mini-groups to help each other apply the principles and strategies back home.
