Asparagus ‘Connover’s Colossal’ is an heirloom from 1870s, grows up to 1.5 metres. Thick green spears with purple tips, great flavour eaten raw or cooked. Can be picked from the third year. Plants may last twenty years or more. Female plants have berries, male plants produce thicker spears.
