Description

Basil ‘Blue Spice’ is an annual to 40cm tall. The slightly fuzzy leaves have a strong, spicy, fruity, vanilla flavour. The leaves work well in savoury and sweet dishes. Red stems hold small mauve flowers with deep purple bracts, which attract pollinating insects. This variety can be dried to use in potpourri. ‘Blue Spice’ is suitable for growing in containers.
This basil may cross-pollinate with other varieties of Ocimum basilicum. If collecting seed, please check the Latin names of basil and allow only one variety to be in flower at any one time.
