Description
Basil ‘Genovese’ is also known as ‘Sweet Genovese’. It is an annual herb up to 65cm tall. The large leaves have a rich scent and flavour, and can be used fresh or dried. This is a good variety for pesto or adding to pasta sauces. ‘Genovese’ basil is a common variety of sweet basil sold in Australian supermarkets. This variety takes longer to come to flower than many others, so the harvest time is longer. Basil ‘Genovese’ can be grown in containers.
This basil may cross-pollinate with other varieties of Ocimum basilicum. If collecting seed, please check the Latin names of basil and allow only one variety to be in flower at any one time.
