Description
Basil ‘Lettuce Leaf’ is an aromatic, short, wide plant to 40cm tall and 40-60cm wide. It has very large, wide, slightly crinkly leaves up to 12cm long and nearly as wide. The flavour is milder than sweet basil. This variety tends to go to flower later than other varieties so harvest time is longer. ‘Lettuce Leaf’ holds its flavour, even in hot conditions. It is one of the best varieties for freezing. This variety can be grown in containers.
This basil may cross-pollinate with other varieties of Ocimum basilicum. If collecting seed, please check the Latin names of basil and allow only one variety to be in flower at any one time.
