Description
Lemon Bee Balm, also known as “lemon mint” or “purple horsemint”, is an annual herb to 60cm. It is native to the hot, dry plains of the American midwest where the soil is slightly alkaline. The lemon‑scented leaves can be used fresh in salads, or to flavour fish and poultry dishes. They can also be used as a lemon‑flavoured tea. The mauve, pink or white flowers are unusual in shape; they attract pollinators and other beneficial insects to the garden. It is used in traditional medicine. Leaves can be used on skin as an insect repellent.
