Description

Beetroot ‘Mangel Wurzel’ is an heirloom from 1700s. It is a hardy biennial usually grown as an annual. Edible leaves cooked as spinach. Very large white/yellow tapered root, in excess of 15kg, grown as animal feed. Young roots can be eaten as beetroot. Stores well. Can be used to make mangel wine. Soak seed overnight before sowing.
