Description
Lettuce ‘Biscia Rossa’ ( literally, ‘Red Snake’) is an Italian heirloom, early, open variety. It has crisp and crunchy green leaves with red tips. This variety matures early. Good variety in cool and temperate weather. Pick outer leaves as needed or allow the lettuce to grow to full size. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
