Description
Melon ‘Dino’ is a variety of honeydew. It is a vine crop that can be grown along the ground or on a trellis, in which case the fruit may need the support of a “sling” or bag. The round fruits can reach about 2 kg. They have white skin speckled with green, which makes the fruit easier to see among the leaves. The flesh is firm, white, and very sweet. Pick the fruit when the stem turns brown. Whole melons keep best at room temperature, and cut pieces store in the fridge for a few days.
Dino melons are a type of Cucumis melo, the same species as honeydew and rockmelon. They can cross-pollinate with other melons in Cucumis melo, so it is best to grow only one type if saving seed.
