Description
Mustard Leaf ‘Red Giant’, also known as ‘Osaka’, is a fast growing annual to 90cm tall, 50cm wide. It has red leaves with green ribs. The flavour is strong and peppery. The leaves can be used fresh or cooked. ‘Red Giant’ is a good variety for baby leaves and microgreens. This plant is attractive and can be grown as an ornamental.
This variety can cross with other varieties of Brassica juncea but not with other mustards that are members of the species Brassica rapa.
Like all brassicas, mustards need protection from cabbage butterflies and moths, and cabbage aphids. Slugs and snails also like young mustard plants.
