Pansy ‘Swiss Giant’ is an annual plant to 15cm with large, open, colourful flowers. The centre of the petals is usually darker than the outer part. This variety seeds freely. Pansies are relatively small plants and can be grown in containers. They tend to sprawl as they age, so give them room. The flowers are edible; put them in salads, or brush with egg white and sprinkle with caster sugar to use as decorations on cakes or desserts. Pansies are popular flowers for ‘pressing’.
