Pea ‘Massey’ is a popular variety of dwarf, shelling pea to 50cm. It may need staking. The pods grow up to 9 cm long. The peas have a good, sweet flavour. This variety is also known as ‘Massey Gem’ or ‘Melbourne Market’. Pick often to prolong harvest.
If growing for seed collection, leave some pods on the plant until the plant has died off. The pods should be dry, brown in colour and the peas inside should rattle.
