Description
Pumpkin ‘Delicata’ is an heirloom variety introduced in the late 1800s. The vine is vigorous, producing several cylindrical, striped fruit. Skin can be eaten. The orange flesh is said to be similar in taste to “sweet potato”. Usually eaten as a roasted vegetable.
This variety of squash will cross-pollinate with any other variety of Cucurbita pepo which includes some squash, some zucchini and some pumpkins. If you are collecting seeds and concerned about cross-pollination, please refer to the Latin name of squash, pumpkin and/or zucchini plants before growing.
