Description
Pumpkin ‘Kakai’, also known as “hull-less pumpkin”, is a variety of winter squash with no skin around the seeds, making great ‘pepitas’. The seeds can be roasted and salted, making them a delicious snack. The compact vine produces small orange and green striped fruit which is said to be flavourless and watery, even when roasted.
This variety of squash will cross-pollinate with any other variety of Cucurbita pepo which includes some squash, some zucchini and some pumpkins. If you are collecting seeds and concerned about cross-pollination, please refer to the Latin name of squash, pumpkin and/or zucchini plants before growing.
