Description
Heirloom from Chioggia, Italy. Dark, bumpy skin, bright orange dry-ish flesh. Large fruit to 12kg. Often used for gnocchi and ravioli but can be cooked as any pumpkin. Stores well; flavour improves with age.
This variety of pumpkin will cross-pollinate with any other variety of Cucurbita maxima but not with pumpkins of the speices C. pepo or C. moschata. If you are collecting seeds and concerned about cross-pollination, please refer to the Latin name of squash, pumpkin and/or zucchini plants before growing.
