Description
Radish ‘Wiener Runder’ (literally “Viennese Round”) is an Austrian heirloom and hard to find in Australia. This radish variety has black skin, white flesh, and grows to tennis ball size. ‘Wiener Runder’ is a late-maturing winter radish. The flesh is juicy and very pungent. If eating these radishes raw, slice paper-thin. The heat, however, disappears when cooked.
Interesting snippet: The radish juice can be mixed with honey for a remedy for colds. (Source: Nojus.shop)
Overseas seed catalogues call this variety “Wiener Runder Kohlschwarzer”, literally “Viennese Round Coal-Black”.
Radishes require consistent moisture to grow well.
