Description
Rhubarb ‘Glaskins Perpetual’ is a perennial to 1.5 metres which is very quick growing. The long stems may be green, pink or red, and can be harvested over a reasonable period. This is an early-maturing variety with a tart, but not bitter, taste. Harvest sparingly or not at all in the first year. Stalks are ready when 30–45cm long.
Rhubarb will produce year after year in full sun if the soil is enriched and kept moist. Apply mulch in winter to protect the roots. Once the plant is well established, it can be divided every three to five years to make new plants.
DO NOT EAT THE LEAVES: they are highly toxic.
