Description

Rockmelon ‘Planters Jumbo’ fruit has a firm, ribbed skin with a fine netted appearance. The fruit averages 1.5–2kg. The sweet orange flesh has a rich, sweet flavour and a pleasant aroma. ‘Planters Jumbo’ is a disease-resistant variety.
Vines can be trained to grow vertically, saving space and increasing airflow. Support fruit in nets.
All varieties of rockmelon can cross-pollinate with other Cucumis melo varieties, which includes melons like honeydew and ‘Santa Claus’. Rockmelons cannot easily be crossed with watermelon (except in a laboratory).
