Description
Acorn squash (sometimes called ‘pumpkin’) is an early producing, annual, bush-type plant. The acorn-shaped fruits are about 25 cm long, with dark-green, ribbed exterior, creamy flesh, and a small seed cavity. ‘Acorn’ has a delicious flavour. Harvest when dark green. Store in a cool, dry place.
This variety of squash will cross-pollinate with any other variety of Cucurbita pepo which includes some squash, some zucchini and some pumpkins. If you are collecting seeds and concerned about cross-pollination, please refer to the Latin name of squash, pumpkin and/or zucchini plants before growing.
