Sunflower ‘Yellow Empress’ is a tall variety to 2 metres. It has golden-yellow flowers that can be 35 cm in diameter. Smaller flowers may appear as side shoots. ‘Yellow Empress’ is a great variety for cut flowers.
All sunflowers attract birds and beneficial insects to the garden. If growing for seed, protect the flower heads from birds after pollination has been completed; that is, when bees stop visiting the plants.
