Description

Tomato ‘Australian Red’ is a climbing vine to 1.8 metres, which needs support. This variety was developed in Australia. The vine bears rich-red, large beefsteak-style tomatoes, 200g–450g per fruit. This is a good all-purpose variety, meaty, with a bold, sweet flavour. It can be used for slicing and sauces. This variety thrives in hot weather.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
