Description
Tomato ‘Hungarian Oxheart’ is an indeterminate (climber) to 1.8 metres, which needs support. The large, red, heart-shaped fruit can weigh up to 400g each. The flavour is said to be “old-fashioned” – the way tomatoes used to taste. Because the fruit has few seeds, it is ideal for eating fresh, cooking, making sauce or preserves. A good variety for cool summers.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
