Description

Watermelon ‘Champagne’ is an oval-shaped, medium-sized watermelon about 20cm in diameter. Fruit usually weighs between 2kg and 3kg. The skin is pale-green striped with darker green. Sweet, pale orange flesh. Flavour is similar to a red watermelon. This variety is susceptible to mildew which affects the leaves, rarely, the fruit; avoid overhead watering.
Any watermelon can cross-pollinate with other varieties of watermelon but cannot cross-pollinate with rockmelons, honeydew melons or specialty-type melons like ‘Santa Claus’.
