Happy Gardens

Well we prayed for rain last seed savers report and rain we got- all month long! Our gardens are looking much happier, if we can keep up with the weeding, but not all the plants and seeds liked the deluge. Some of our seeds didn’t hatch with the cold wet weather and the seedlings weren’t so keen either on being drowned. We hope some more rain heads to our farmers.

We had a glorious sunny day for seed savers- our second last get together for the year. 37 people came today including 5 children.

We sowed 32 different seed varieties including baby’s breath, beetroot, cabbages, calendula, capsicum, chilli, chives, custard apple, endive, hon tsai tai, lettuce, longan, mangel wurzel, moringa, mustard leaf, papaya, parsley, radish, rocket, savory, soapwort, sorrel, spinach, sugarbeet, swede, tatsoi, tomatoes, turnip and viola.

12 plant varieties were propagated on from the donations,  these included apricot, feijoa, fig, lavender, lemonade, orange, peach, plum, pomegranate, Quava and Thyme.

.We harvested seeds from ?????????

In the middle of this we stopped for some well-deserved morning tea, a chat and birthday cake for October birthday members.
