Description

African Daisy, also known as Cape Daisy, is a drought tolerant, evergreen, perennial which grows up to 45cm tall. African Daisies flower almost all year. The flowers can be white, pink, crimson, or mauve. Many have unusual blue centres. The large, open flowers attract pollinators and other beneficial insects. Flowers close late in the afternoon as the sun sets, or on dull days. African Daisies come from South Africa so they are drought tolerant, heat tolerant, and grow well in poor soils. As they grow, the plants become straggly but they respond very well to hard pruning in late winter or early spring. Cut stems back to new growth, 10-15cm above the soil.
