Description
Lettuce ‘Marvel of Four Seasons’ is a French heirloom from 1885. It is a butterhead variety; named for the soft ‘buttery’ texture of the leaves, not for its taste. It is an attractive lettuce; the green leaves have wavy, burgundy-coloured edges. It develops a green heart when mature. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
