Description
Lettuce ‘Red Coral’ is an Italian heirloom. It is a non-hearting, heirloom variety. The leaves are green at the base, turning red towards the highly-frilled edges. As with many red lettuces, the taste can be slightly bitter. Cut outer leaves as needed. This variety grows best in cooler weather. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
