Description

Sweet Peas are ornamental plants – they are not edible.

Most sweet pea varieties are climbing plants and will need the support of a fence or trellis.

Sweet peas like a slightly alkaline soil. If garden soil is acidic, add garden lime about a month before sowing.

Tradtionally, sweet peas are planted in western Sydney between mid March and the end of April.

Flowers are usually highly fragrant and last well in a vase.

To prolong the flowering season, pick flowers regularly or deadhead as flowers die off.
