Description
Tomato ‘Broad Ripple Yellow Currant’ was originally found growing in the pavement in the neighbourhood of Broad Ripple, Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, so it can survive hard conditions. It is an indeterminate (climbing) vine to 2.4 metres, and needs support. ‘Broad Ripple’ is a prolific producer of currant-sized, yellow fruit to 10mm (1cm), which doesn’t split when left on the vine. Like many small cherry varieties, it is fruit fly resistant.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
