Seed Savers Meeting

Seed Savers meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month, every month except January. We are not looking for experts, we need willing workers who want to learn some new skills, or share their skills with others!

In April only, the Seed Savers team meeting will be on Saturday 6 April, starting at 10am and finishing at 1pm, although those who wish to hang around and do some more work are welcome!

The venue remains the home of the Seed Savers team leaders in Emu Heights, an easy drive along the M4 from Parramatta or the M7 and M4 from the Hills district. Email for the address.

If you wish to use public transport, someone can pick you up at Emu Plains station. Contact Lynne to request pick-up.
Here are the details for using Blue Mountains trains:

  • train to Mt Victoria departs Parramatta Station 9:19am, Blacktown Station 9:28a, Penrith station 9:44am, arrives Emu Plains  9:47am
  • train to Mt Victoria departs Parramatta station 9:49am, Blacktown station 9:58am, Penrith station 10:14am, arrives Emu Plains 10:17am

Please cross over the tracks, using the overhead bridge (lifts available) and you will be met at the bottom of the stairs/ramp near the crossing to the carpark.

ACTIVITIES FOR THE DAY:

  • pricking out and potting on of seedlings sown at the March meeting
  • sowing seeds for April
  • packing seeds for sale
  • cleaning seeds for future sales
  • cleaning of plastic plant markers
  • cleaning of used punnets

Please let us know if you are coming so we can structure tasks according to numbers.

Please bring something to share for morning tea. We love homegrown and homemade goodies! Please bring your own mug, cup or glass, thank you.
(If you don’t have time to make something, something bought will be fine; or don’t bring anything – no pressure intended!)
There will be tea, coffee, full-cream dairy milk, white sugar, boiling water and tap water for your use.

CHILDREN
Children over the age of six are welcome to attend Seed Savers meetings. We have a junior program and they will be expected to participate in the work being done.
Children under six will remain under your supervision. The site is steep and next to bushland (with all the associated wildlife) so please ensure you know where your child is at all times.

PLEASE NOTE:
You must be a current financial member of either Permaculture Sydney West or Permaculture Sydney North to attend a Seed Savers meeting.

If there are any questions, please contact Lynne.

See you Saturday 6 April.
