Description
Asparagus ‘Argenteuil’ is a French heirloom perennial which grows up to 150cm tall. The thick green spears have purple tips. Spears can be picked from the second year. This variety will produce a yield in part-sun and may last more than 20 years. In large parts of western Sydney, asparagus ferns die down in winter; the spears begin to emerge in spring. Female plants produce berries; male plants generally have thicker spears. Unless collecting seed, it is best to remove female plants.
