Asparagus officinalis
Asparagus ‘Argenteuil’ is a French heirloom perennial to 150cm. Thick green spears with purple tips. Can be picked from the second year. Plants yield in part-sun and may last more than 20 years. Asparagus dies down in Winter and spears begin to emerge in Spring. Female plants produce berries; male plants generally have thicker spears.
