Description
Basil ‘Mrs Burns Lemon’ is an annual herb to 50-90cm tall and 30-60cm wide. It has a citrus-lime scent with an intense lime and lemon flavour, with hints of cinnamon and mint. Use this herb raw or cooked, or in a refreshing citrus-basil tea. This is a great variety for pesto. Dried leaves keep their scent and can be used in potpourri. ‘Mrs Burns’ is more heat tolerant than most other basils. The flowers attract beneficial insects. If the plant goes to flower before desired, simply remove the flower spikes to prolong its productive life. ‘Mrs Burns’ is also known as “lime basil”. This variety can be grown in containers.
This basil may cross-pollinate with other varieties of Ocimum basilicum. If collecting seed, please check the Latin names of basil and allow only one variety to be in flower at any one time.
