Phaseolus coccineus
Bean ‘Scarlet Emperor’ is also known as ‘seven year bean’. Perennial climber, needs strong trellis or fence. Harvest young as green bean or let pods mature on vine for dry beans. Depending on climate, may die down over winter but appear again in spring. In wet conditions or boggy ground, this bean will rot.
