Description
Endive ‘Bionda a Cuore Pieno’, literally “blonde full heart”, is a traditional Italian vegetable. It has a very crunchy, thick, yellow-green heart, with lime-green outer leaves which are not usually eaten. Endives have a slightly bitter taste which is good for gut health. Also known as ‘escarole’; endive is a member of the chicory family. Endive is best grown in cool weather; It is inclined to bolt in warm weather.
Endives can cross-pollinate with each other. If growing for seed, It is best to let only one variety flower at a time.
