Description
Endive ‘Broadleaf’, also known as ‘Batavian Broadleaf’, has tender, large, slightly bitter, green leaves. If left to grow to maturity, a tender, white heart should form. It is a hardy, frost-tolerant winter vegetable, inclined to bolt in warm weather. The pretty, purple, daisy flowers attract beneficial insects.
Endives can cross-pollinate with each other. If growing for seed, it is best to let only one variety flower at a time.
