Description
Lettuce ‘Red Cos’ has brilliant red-burgundy leaves. It is one of the reddest types of lettuce available. Being a cos-style lettuce it has upright growth. Attractive enough to grow as a border plant. ‘Red Cos’ may bolt in warm weather. Cos lettuces are sometimes called ‘Romaine’ lettuces. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
