Description
Mexican Hat Flower plants are herbaceous perennials which means they may disappear in winter and return the following spring. The plants are narrow, just 30cm wide, and can grow up to 90cm tall. If left to grow tall, they will need staking. Pinch out the tips of the growing plant when five sets of true leaves are showing. This will make the plant shorter and bushier, and promote more flowers. The red and yellow, daisy-type flowers, which attract pollinators, resemble sombreros. This plant is also called “Thimble Flower” or “Prairie Coneflower”.
