Description
Silverbeet plants, which are about 60cm tall, are highly productive. ‘Golden Sunrise’ has golden-yellow stalks and midribs, with dark-green, crinkled leaves. Harvest leaves as needed and leave the plant in the ground to extend the growing season.
Botanically, silverbeet is the same plant as chard. Although both are often called ‘spinach’, neither is related to true spinach.
Silverbeet, like chard, is the same species as beetroot; all can cross-pollinate. Being biennial, the seeds are not produced until the second year.
