Description
Tatsoi ‘Black Knight’ is a cool-season Asian leafy green to 40 cm. The dark-coloured, spoon-shaped leaves grow in a rosette. This shape gives the plant the common name of ‘rosette bok choy’ (or ‘rosette pak choi’). The taste is mild, with subtle mustard undertones. It has a smooth texture. Pick leaves as needed. Use in stir-fry, soups, or stews.
Tatsoi varieties can cross-pollinate with each other, and other Brassica rapa plants, such as Asian vegetables (bok choy, pak choi), turnips, and mustard varieties grown for edible leaves.
Like all brassicas, tatsoi needs protection from cabbage butterflies and moths, and cabbage aphids.
