Description
Tomato ‘Jaune Flamme’ (“Yellow Flame”) is a French heirloom. It is a climbing vine (indeterminate) to 2.8 metres and will need support. This variety has a high yield over an extended period of time. The fruit is golf-ball-sized and yellow-orange. The full, rich flavour is said to be “sweet, tart and slightly citrusy”. Excellent variety for eating fresh or roasted. The deep colour is retained even when the fruit is dried.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
