Description
Tomato ‘Mary Italian’ is an American heirloom of Italian descent. It is an indeterminate (climbing) vine to 1.5 metres, and will need support. The vine is highly productive over an extended period. This variety has flattened, ribbed, medium-large, red, beefsteak-style fruit, typically 100g–200g. The flavour is excellent, with a good balance between acidic tang and sweetness; it is often a winner in taste tests.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
