Description
Kale ‘Red Russian’ grows quickly up to 75 cm tall. The blue/green serrated leaves have red veins. This variety is sweet. Eat young leaves as lettuce, cook older leaves as cabbage. Good for baby leaves and micro-greens.
Red Russian can cross-pollinate with some other varieties of kale, and other Brassica napus plants, such as swede. If growing for seed production, allow only one variety to go to flower at a time.
Like all brassicas, kale needs protection from cabbage butterflies and moths, and cabbage aphids.
