Description
Lettuce ‘Grand Rapids’ is an heirloom from the 1800s. It is a loose leaf, ‘cut-and-come-again’ variety. The leaves are crisp, crinkled, and light-green with a delicate flavour. This variety is frost hardy. Protect young plants from slugs and snails. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
