Description
Lettuce ‘Romana Bionda’ (literally “blond Roman”) is an Italian heirloom. The light coloured leaves have crisp, white stems. This variety is the classic Romaine (cos-style) lettuce used in Caesar salad. ‘Romana Bionda’ is a fast growing variety; it can be ready to harvest in 65 days. Succession sow every three weeks to increase harvest length.
All varieties of lettuce, whether looseleaf, butterhead, cos, Romaine, or iceberg can be easily cross-pollinated with each other. If growing more than one variety for seed, the best strategy is to allow only one variety to be in flower at a time.
