Description
Tomato ‘Livingston’s Potato Leaf’ (sometimes simply called ‘Potato Leaf’) is an heirloom variety from the 1880s. It is an indeterminate (climbing) vine that will need support. The plants have unusual leaves, shaped like that of a potato. The deep red, almost purple, fruit is of medium size, about 100g. This variety is especially good for bottling whole tomatoes. The plants grow well in heavy (clay) soils and in wet weather.
Tomatoes are “buzz pollinated”. Cross-pollination is unusual but it can happen if there are bees, particularly the Australian native blue-banded bee going from the flowers of one plant to the flowers of another.
