Description
Aniseed (Pimpinella anisum) is an annual herb to around 50cm tall. The leaves have a mild, slightly aniseed flavour and can be used in savoury dishes. The aromatic seed pods, commonly known as ‘aniseed’, have a spicy liquorice flavour and are used in baking, confectionery, and herbal teas. Plants prefer full sun and well‑drained soil. Allow the seed heads to dry on the plant before harvesting. Do not overwater, as aniseed dislikes wet feet.
