Description
Celery ‘Tall Utah’ is a popular variety. It has upright yet compact growth up to 70cm tall. The leaves are dark green. The stalks are slightly ribbed and stringless. Use raw or cooked. There is no need to wait for the whole plant to reach maturity; pick stems as needed.
Celery plants need lots of water. They become bitter if the soil is not kept moist enough. They can be grown in full sun to part shade. Afternoon shade is recommended in warm weather. Celery can be grown in containers and wicking beds.
Celery is a biennial plant which means that it produces flowers and seeds in the second year. Allow the flowers to turn brown and the seeds to form before removing from the plant. Harvesting is easiest if the whole flowering head and stems are placed in a paper bag upside-down.
